Alvaro is one of the founding partners of Rodriguez & Cavelier and co- director of the tax practice area.

Alvaro has advised clients in the tax structuring of several big ticket deals in Colombia, and has published various tax law books such as "Administrative Contracts", "Municipal Taxes" and "Municipal Goods and Income".

He was also a professor of tax law at the Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga and an official correspondent of the "Tax News Service" and "Taxation in Latin America" of the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation. He is a member of the Colombian Institute of Tax Law (ICDT).

He obtained his law degree at Universidad de Los Andes.
